Series: Ties That Bind #1
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
ARC KINDLY PROVIDED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW
Child when I saw a book by A. Zavarelli and Natasha night and its mafia, I thought is about to be some shit. Having read Boston Underground by, I mean its home turf for A Zavarelli. So obviously I devoured this book like they were cutting me a cheque okay?
Our hero is Lev, a hitman for the Russian Mafia. Having lost his mom under mysterious circumstances all he wants is revenge, so he goes to work for his uncle, the Don of the Russia Mafia in Philly. When he rescues our heroin (Kat) from herself in one of their mafia clubs, he cant help but feel drawn to her despite his swearing up and down that single life is #goals.
Anyway, they hook up and unfortunate events tear them apart. Kat begins a new life leaving Lev hunting her for four years.
Okay, lets wait here for a minute.
Do you guys remember the scene where Kat realises that Le has found her and rushes home to pack. They get into a fight and he spanks her? Listen I’m all for spanking during sex, but fuck me that looked a lot more like beating the dog-shit out of her to me, right? I mean
anyway, its at this point that Lev starts to have a lot of questions and trust issues regarding his uncle. He’s caught between his loyalty to his own family and to his mafia family. Something about his uncle, his cousin and the death of his mother doesn’t add up. So, he sets off on a quest to find answers. And the book ends on a cliff-hanger that left me with bated breath.
The story is full of suspense and grit. But I have to admit, it didn’t meet the standard I’ve come to expect from A. Zavarelli. It was bad, I mean I devoured it in one sitting. Its just that having read a few of home-girls books I’ve come to expect a lot of more heat, darkness, “what the fucks”. You know what I mean?
Nonetheless, I can’t wait for book 2. I suspect its about to be
