I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don’t affect him.
Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He’s always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.
I didn’t mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can’t stay away.
I’m mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses…
I’ll keep watching and waiting.
Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I’ll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.
Before reading Haunting Adeline, it is highly suggested, but not required, that you read the novella, Satan’s Affair first.
Trigger Warning: This book ends on a cliffhanger. It is a dark romance that contains graphic violence, dub/non con, and deals with subject matters such as child trafficking and human sacrifice. If you have ANY triggers at all, this may not be the story for you.
Series: Adeline Duet #1
I know its wrong to like a book like this, and quite frankly sociopathic to love it. But boy, do I fuck with it? UGGG. I’m forever on the look out for new to me authors. Sometimes it turns out to be a bad choice. Sometimes the choice turns out to be one of those “what the fuck did I just read because I love that shit” choice. And this one is the latter. But let me warn you, if you’re one of those people who tends to skip over the trigger warnings, this is not the book to do that shit with. No ma’am. Heed the warning!
I’m going to keep my review as vague as possible because I don’t want to ruin it for you. I think it’s one of those books you’re best going into blind.
When best seller author Adeline moves into the house she inherited from her late grandmother, all she seeks is the comfort in the memories from her childhood in that house. The house is secluded, quite a distance from others so also offers her security from the scrutiny her success exposes her to. What she was not prepared for is the web of lies and secrets that make up her family history, and most certainly not the man who’s decided she belongs to him and only him- her stalker.
“All I want to do is break her. Shatter her into pieces. And then arrange those pieces to fit against my own. I don’t care if they don’t fit – I’ll fucking make them.”
Zane, better known as Z is the best anti-hero. The alpha you’d love nothing more than to hate but can’t help but love. He’s rich, smart, sexy as hell and crazy as hell stalker with a conscious. What an oxymoron right? But it is true.
I loved loved loved this book. I love how Zane was different from the typical antiheroes. He had no sob story from a rough childhood that made him into the man he is. He grew up in a loving, happy home. He chose to be who he is.
I loved Adeline’s strength as well. She wasn’t a mousy, spineless woman. Although I suppose compared to Zane, she could be called mousy. I loved her.
The sex scenes were fire. The scene in the mirror house
And Zane’s dirty, dirty mouth
“Let me know which stars you prefer. The ones above you or the ones I make you see.”
I’ll take the ones you make me see, thank you very much. Anyway, I digress.
The point is, the book is the shit. And that cliff-hanger…
